Hardik Mehta’s Roohi earned Rs11.35 crore in net profits at the box office on its first extended weekend — from Thursday to Sunday — as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
Starring Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Sharma, the film opened at Rs2.75 crore nett on Thursday but saw a drop on Friday, managing to make only Rs2 crore nett. However. it bounced back, earning Rs3.10 crore nett and Rs3.50 crore nett on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
As per trade sources, Roohi was made on a budget of around Rs30 crore nett. But, considering the 50% occupancy rule in theatres and the fear surrounding visiting cinema halls in the post-lockdown period, the film has done quite well. In fact, its opening numbers are much higher than that of any other film, Hindi or otherwise, released after the reopening of theatres.
All the films released in the post-lockdown period have seen a major drop in numbers from their first Monday onwards. If Roohi passes the test, it will be an achievement of sorts.
The Sharman Joshi and Bidita Bag film Mera Fauji Calling, which also released on Friday, managed to only make Rs5 lakh nett on its first weekend.
