Amazon Prime Video has announced the world premiere of its first Marathi direct-to-streaming offering, Picasso, by unveiling the trailer of the film. The film will arrive on the OTT platform on 19 March.

Helmed by first-time filmmaker Abhijeet Warang, Picasso stars Prasad Oak, child artist Samay Sanjeev Tambe and Ashwini Mukadam. The film tells the story of an alcoholic father and his son and how they bond over their common love of art. Shot on real locations in Maharashtra's Konkan region, the film also shows the centuries-old art form of Dashavatara and the struggles of artists.

Talking about the film's narrative, Warang said in a statement to the Mid-Day newspaper. "I am thrilled to present Picasso, the first Marathi film documenting Dashavatara in its pure and original format. With this film, we have tried to bring out the essence of the day-to-day challenges of an artist's life. The relentless, painful yet satisfying process of creativity — from doubting yourself to discovering new ways of facing it."

Picasso has been produced by Shiladitya Bora under his production banner, Platoon One Films.

Expressing his excitement over the world premiere of the film, the producer said in a statement to Mid-Day, "Our entire team at Platoon One Films are glad to collaborate with Amazon Prime Video and introduce such stories, contributing to this vibrant storytelling industry in our own little way. I am excited for the film’s world premiere on the streaming service in India and across 240 countries and territories.”
