Actress Gauahar Khan has reportedly been booked by the Mumbai police on the basis of a complaint by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for breaking COVID-19 protocol. The actress reportedly continued shooting for a project after testing positive for the coronavirus.

While the Oshiwara police refused to speak on the issue to Cinestaan, reports suggest that the first information report (FIR) has been lodged on a complaint by a BMC official. Khan had tested positive and had been asked to quarantine herself at home. However, when the civic official arrived at her residence, it was learnt that the actress was at a shoot.

The Indian Express newspaper quoted S Chaitanya, DCP (operations) and PRO, Mumbai police, as saying, "An FIR has been registered at Oshiwara police station under sections 188, 269, 270 IPC (Indian Penal Code), 51B of NDMA Act, 3 of Epidemic Diseases Act, on the complaint of a BMC official."

The BMC shared an image of the complaint registered with the police station on social media.

The report comes during the same week when four artistes, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranbir Kapoor, Tara Sutaria and Siddhant Chaturvedi, tested positive for the virus.

After a recent lull, the number of COVID-19 patients has increased in India, with the state of Maharashtra recording a high number of cases. Several districts of the state are under partial lockdown.
