Singapore-based independent filmmaker Shilpa Krishnan Shukla has bagged the top award at the inaugural Zee5 Global OTT Content Festival.
As a result of winning the top prize, her three films — Tashi, Kathaah@8 and Dots — have now been selected to be streamed globally on the Zee5 OTT platform.
Fifteen winners were selected from different countries to have their works showcased on the streaming platform. These works, ranging from feature films to music videos, are available free on the Zee5 platform since 25 February.
Global winner Shilpa Krishnan Shukla’s feature film Kathaah@8 is the world's first anthology film in eight languages written, produced and directed by a single filmmaker. It has been to various international festivals and won multiple awards.
Her second film, Dots, was conceptualized, written and shot during the COVID-19 lockdown last year. The film, another multi-lingual feature, tells the story of 10 emotionally isolated people connecting over an imaginary app called DOTS. The film featured artistes from various regional industries.
Shukla's third feature, Tashi, is a bilingual English-Hindi film shot in Singapore, which tells a heartwarming story of family and relationships. Tashi has been to 18 festivals across India, Bangladesh, the United Kingdom and the United States and won multiple awards.
This is the first time all three of Shukla's films are available on a single OTT platform.
