Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh to play Sita and Lakshman in Adipurush

Kriti Sanon and Sunny Singh have signed up to play Sita and Lakshman in Om Raut’s Adipurush, an adaptation of the Ramayana.

Prabhas is playing the role of Lord Ram in the epic film while Saif Ali Khan will essay the role of the evil Ravana. 

Adipurush is Sanon’s latest period film after Ashutosh Gowariker’s Panipat (2019) in which she played Parvati Bai. 

Speaking about the casting of the artistes, Raut said in a statement, “When I was casting for the female lead, I needed an actress who not only has an amazing screen presence but, more importantly, is also a great performer. Kriti was our obvious choice for the film. Sunny is a great actor and we're sure he will impress viewers with his performance.” 

Producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series said that Sanon didn’t think much after hearing the narration. “When Kriti heard the script she instantly agreed for the part. Sunny fits the character perfectly. I am happy to have them on board,” he said. 

Adipurush went on floors on 2 February. The film will hit the screens on 11 August 2022.
