Director Vikram Bhatt's next thriller, Dirty Games, will now be called Bisaat: Khel Shatranj Ka.
The makers finished the shoot in Mumbai. The eight-episode web-series, featuring Sandeepa Dhar and Omkar Kapoor, will be streamed on the MX Player OTT platform.
On the title change, director Vikram Bhatt said, "There was nothing dirty about Dirty Games to begin with. It was about the games people play. But there was a perception that dirty meant sexually dirty or something worse. Secondly, in the age of OTT going 'right', it perhaps was a wrong signal, so now the title is Bisaat: Khel Shatranj Ka. We have added khel shatranj ka to bisaat."
Explaining, Bhatt said, "Basically, bisaat means a chessboard. Since the show is about twists and turns, people's minds tick like a game of chess. It [the name change] was just a bet."
The series went on the floor in October 2020, following the lifting of the COVID-19 pandemic-induced lockdown. A thriller, the web-series revolves around a psychiatrist who gets caught in a murder case. Written and directed by Vikram Bhatt, the web-series is produced by Krishna Bhatt under the Loneranger banner.
The show will also feature Khaled Siddiqui, Samay Thakkar, Hemang Vyas, Trishaan Singh Maini, Tanvi Thakkar, Coral Bhamra, Ashwin Kaushal and Prakash Jha.
