Adarsh Gourav receives BAFTA nomination for The White Tiger 


The film's director, Ramin Bahrani, has been nominated for the Best Adapted Screenplay Award.

Adarsh Gourav has been nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in The White Tiger while the film's director, Ramin Bahrani, has been nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. 

The film, based on Aravind Adiga's bestselling novel of the same name, is a Netflix original.

Gourav's fellow nominees are Riz Ahmed (Sound Of Metal), Chadwick Boseman (Ma Rainey's Black Bottom), Anthony Hopkins (The Father), Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round) and Tahar Rahim (The Mauritanian). 

An ecstatic Gourav shared the news on Instagram on Wednesday, congratulating Bahrani as well. "Thank you Ramin for trusting me to play the character that has given me more than anything I've ever experienced," he wrote.

Gourav's co-star Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who co-produced the film, congratulated the actor and called his nomination 'well-deserved'.

Producer Mukul Deora also took to Twitter to congratulate his teammates.

The White Tiger, which features Rajkummar Rao and Mahesh Manjrekar, tells the story of a helper, Balram, who rises above class-based discrimination by conniving his way into a position of power.
