Producer Anand Pandit, who has contributed to building COVID-19 centres in Mumbai, is now planning to set up vaccination centres. He will also conduct a vaccination drive for film industry employees in association with the Indian Film & Television Directors' Association (IFTDA).
The drive is the latest of a series of charitable works that the Chehre (2021) producer has undertaken in these tumultuous times. He not only took care of the daily-wage workers involved in his building and film projects but also provided medical kits and funded check-ups for those who could not afford them. Pandit also let out 250 apartments to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to accommodate over 1,000 patients.
Speaking about the vaccination drive, he said, "We are well past the ideation stage and yes, hopefully, soon we will have a designated venue in Mumbai where daily wage workers from the film industry and construction and real estate sector will be able to access critical vaccination support. I am also sponsoring a vaccination drive to help all workers associated with IFTDA."
The producer is planning to approach the government to obtain clearances to import vaccines.
Recently, Pandit collaborated with Amitabh Bachchan to get a COVD ward in Juhu operational and contributed to Ajay Devgn's efforts to start a similar 250-bed facility in Dadar.
Speaking about these initiatives, he said, "We should not just be talking about the crisis we are facing but doing all we can to help. I plan to start private medical camps as well because the health infrastructure is so overstretched. Everything we do will impact how soon we can emerge from this challenging phase."
