Vidya Balan plays a forest officer on a mission in Amit Masurkar’s Sherni. As per a statement, the producers of the thriller — Abunduntia Entertainment's Vikram Malhotra and Bhushan Kumar from T-Series — were bowled over by her performance when they saw the final cut recently.

Malhotra, who has worked with the actress in her last film, Shakuntala Devi (2020), said, “Vidya is an exceptional actor and has built a die-hard fan franchise on the work that she’s delivered over the last 16 years. While working together on Shakuntala Devi, I saw how she moulded herself into that complex character and looked into every intricate detail. There was never anyone else but Vidya for us for Sherni.”
Kumar was impressed with her in Tumhari Sulu (2017), his last collaboration with her. The actress played the role of a radio jockey in the film.
“We had a wonderful time working with Vidya in Tumhari Sulu,” said Kumar. “She is a dedicated actress and has such admirable love for the craft that translates on the screen. It is always fun and a great learning experience to work with Vidya. She is not only every director’s actor but also every producer's favourite.”
Also starring Neeraj Kabi, Sharat Saxena and Vijay Raaz, Sherni will be releasing on 18 June on Amazon Prime Video.
