The makers of Keerthy Suresh’s upcoming Telugu sports comedy Good Luck Sakhi today clarified that the film is not heading for an online release.
In a statement, they requested audiences not to believe reports about the film being released on an OTT platform rather than in theatres.
The film stars Keerthy in the role of a sharpshooter from a village. It also features Aadhi Pinisetty and Jagapathi Babu in crucial roles.
“There are rumours all over the media that we are going for a direct OTT release," producer Sudheer Chandra said in the statement. "Kindly request media to refrain from saying so. None of it is true. We will come with an update, if any.”
The teaser for the movie was released last year on Independence Day and was received well.
The film marks Nagesh Kukunoor’s debut in Telugu cinema. In an interview, Kukunoor had revealed that he was terrified about finally making a film in his native language.
“It’s my mother tongue, but I never learned to read and write in Telugu," the filmmaker admitted. "It’s one of my biggest regrets. So every time I was offered a Telugu film or thought about it, I was terrified. It’s like delving into a new language. I knew whenever I do direct, I would have to do a lot of homework.”
Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music for the film which has been predominantly shot in Hyderabad in Telangana and Pune in Maharashtra.
Last seen on the screen in the Telugu romantic comedy Rang De (2021), Keerthy currently has three projects in her kitty gearing up for release. In Telugu, she has Sarkaru Vaari Paata with Mahesh Babu in the pipeline. In Tamil, she has Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe and Saani Kaayidham getting ready for release.
