After making her web-series debut in the Disney+ Hotstar series Live Telecast (2021) earlier this year, Kajal Aggarwal is moving back to Hindi cinema. The actress will star in Uma, a slice-of-life film directed by Tathagata Singha.
Aggarwal will play a stranger, Uma, who changes the dynamic of a family after she enters the lives of its members. The drama film is set in an aristocratic household in the backdrop of a wedding where the action will unfold.
Uma is produced AVMA Media’s Avishek Ghosh and Miraj Group’s Mantraraj Paliwal. It is expected to be shot in a start-to-finish schedule in the second half of 2021, in adherence to all COVID-19 protocols.
The other cast members will be announced soon.
Aggarwal said, “Very happy to be collaborating with AVMA Media, Avishek Ghosh and director Tathagata Singha, on an extremely interesting film titled Uma. I look forward to commencing shooting as soon as the situation around us gets better. I’m always keen to give a green signal to scripts that are fun, entertaining yet challenging for me as an actor. I’m excited to share Uma with all of you!”
The actress, who was last seen in the Hindi action film Mumbai Saga (2021), has a number of films lined up for release including the Tamil film Hey Sinamika. Aggarwal is also part of two anticipated films, the Chiranjeevi-starrer Acharya and Indian 2, in which she stars alongside Kamal Haasan.
