Dhanush's Jagame Thandhiram gets special Twitter emoji

The gangster drama, which has been directed by Karthik Subbaraj, will be premiered on Netflix on 18 June.

Dhanush’s upcoming Tamil film Jagame Thandhiram has got a Twitter emoji ahead of its release on Netflix. It is the second Tamil film this year, after Master, to get a Twitter emoji.

Jagame Thandhiram, which has been directed by Karthik Subbaraj, will be premiered on 18 June.

Entertainment industry tracker Ramesh Bala revealed the emoji in a tweet on Thursday.

The trailer for the film, which was released earlier this week, introduces Dhanush as a wisecracking hoodlum who travels to London to lock horns with a local gangster, played by James Cosmo. It appears that they share a relationship that has soured.

On the completion of the project, Dhanush had tweeted: “That’s a wrap for D40. One of the quickest films I have done. It was a pleasure to work with such a quirky, sensible and visionary filmmaker like Karthik Subbaraj. This one is going to be special.”

The film was originally supposed to be released in cinemas in April last year. However, it was postponed due to the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. After repeated postponements, the makers eventually announced this year that it would be released directly on Netflix.

While Aishwarya Lekshmi plays the leading lady, the supporting cast includes Guru Somasundaram, Kalaiarasan and Joju George.

Dhanush, who was last seen on the big screen in the Tamil drama Karnan (2021), is currently shooting for the Netflix film The Gray Man by the Russo Brothers.
