Balika Vadhu actor Pankaj Jhaa makes web debut with Maharani

The noted singer and voice artist plays the character of Diwakar Gupta, who initially serves as the finance minister in the fictional chief minister Bheema Bharti’s cabinet.

Television actor Pankaj Jhaa, known for his performances in Balika Vadhu and Kyunki Jeena Isika Naam Hai, recently made his web debut in the SonyLiv series Maharani.

Directed by Karan Sharma and created by Subhash Kapoor, the political web drama features Huma Qureshi. Amit Sial and Sohum Shah.

Also, a noted singer and voice artist, Jhaa played the character of Diwakar Gupta, who after completing his studies at the London School of Economics, initially serves as the finance minister in the fictional chief minister Bheema Bharti’s cabinet before becoming the health minister.

Speaking about his experience working in the series, Jhaa said, “I loved working with each and every actor especially with Huma and Sohum. They are thorough professional actors. Subhash Sir is an amazing director to work with who always takes care of his actors. He made me very comfortable from the first day in Bhopal.”

Since the trailer launch, Maharani has triggered several controversies, which according to Jhaa, has only created publicity for the show. “The storyline is inspired by the infamous fodder scam, but the characters are fictional. Jhaa has recently finished shooting for India Lockdown directed by Madhur Bhandarkar and will start shooting for a web series, Stardust, which will be directed by Vikramaditya Motwane.
