Srijit Mukherji shares photos from mahurat of X=Prem

Filmmaker Srijt Mukherji shared photographs from the mahurat (inaugural shot) of his upcoming new-age romantic drama X=Prem on Twitter today.

The ceremony was attended by the cast and crew, including lead artistes Arjun Chakraborty and Madhurima Basak as well as Anindya Sengupta and Shruti Das, who will feature as crucial characters.

The producers, SVF Entertainment, posted a video of Mukherji sharing his thoughts on the mahurat on social media. The National award-winning director said, “I have beautiful memories associated with movie mahurats. Also, mahurats suggest that things are coming back to normal.”

After directing thrillers and period dramas over the past few years, Mukherji has returned to helming an out-and-out romantic drama. According to him, “X=Prem is a futuristic drama on college-goers’ romantic relationship.”

In the film, Chakraborty plays Khilat, a software engineer.

In another video released by SVF from the X=Prem mahurat, Chakraborty stated that he was quite excited to get back to work. However, he requested everyone to maintain physical distancing and keep using masks and sanitizers. "Hope to see you back at the theatres soon," he added. 

The film will go on the floors on 2 July. X=Prem is slated to be released on 4 February 2022.

Meanwhile, SVF recently announced the theatrical release date of Mukherji’s other film Kakababur Protyaborton, which will be out on 24 December.
