C Sankaran Nair was a reputed lawyer who served as the president of the Indian National Congress in 1897 and was knighted for his services in 1912. However, the infamous Jallianwala Bagh massacre moved him to resign from the Viceroy's Council later. Furthermore, the jurist laid the blame for the tragedy on the then-lieutenant governor of Punjab Michael O'Dwyer, detailing the cause of the atrocity in a book. O'Dwyer sued him for libel, and Nair lost the case. However, he refused to submit the apology demanded by the administrator. The case brought international attention to the massacre.
The title and cast for the film have not yet been announced. The film is expected to go on the floors shortly.
