Sai Tamhankar plays mysterious woman from different eras in Samantar 2; see teaser

The first season of MX Player’s Samantar ended with the mention of a mysterious woman entering the life of Kumar Mahajan (Swwapnil Joshi). The trailer for the second season revealed that Sai Tamhankar plays that woman.

The makers shared a character teaser on Friday, which happens to be the actress's birthday.

According to Suhas Shirwalkar’s novel, on which the show is based, Mahajan’s future is the past of an elderly man named Sudarshan Chakrapani (Nitish Bharadwaj).

Interestingly, Tamhankar’s character is seen with both Bharadwaj and Joshi. As the narrative tracks of both actors are decades apart, one wonders why the actress has been portrayed as a young woman in both. This gives rise to speculation that Tamhankar may be playing a double role.

The show also stars Tejaswini Pandit.

The first season of Samantar was directed by Satish Rajwade while the second one has been helmed by Sameer Vidwans. It will be streamed on MX Player from 1 July.
