Pan Nalin’s latest, the Gujarati-language movie Chhello Show or Last Film Show, has nabbed second place at the 20th edition of the Tribeca Festivals Audience Awards.

Josef Kubota Wladyka’s Catch The Fair One, a revenge thriller, was awarded first place by viewers in the Narrative Feature category. The films were presented both virtually and physically as part of this year’s hybrid festival.
The filmmaker was delighted with the win and thanked the festival for the honour.
In a recorded message, Pan said, “We are absolutely thrilled to get this news that Last Film Show has won Audience Award in runner-up position. I really want to thank Mr Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, Cara Cusumano and everyone at Tribeca for making this in-person event a mega success. We hope Last Film Show which is a love letter to cinema, thanks to Tribeca Festival, reaches across the globe.”

The semi-autobiographical film features Bhavin Rabari as a curious nine-year-old boy who discovers the magic of cinema and becomes obsessed with telling stories.
The filmmaker’s previous feature Angry Indian Goddesses (2015) had come in second for the People's Choice Award at the 40th Toronto International Film Festival.
