SVF Entertainment has announced Mainak Bhaumik’s upcoming film Ekannoborti, which stars Aparajita Adhya, Sauraseni Maitra and Alokanonda Roy.
Bhaumik’s last film Cheeni, which also starred Adhya, dealt with the complexities of a mother-daughter relationship. Ekannoborti is a light-hearted drama about a family reunion that takes place during Durga Puja.
The film will go on the floors on 8 July. As the partial lockdown was extended in West Bengal, the state government allowed film and television shoots with 50 unit members on the set from 16 June.
According to the director, “Ekannoborti is a film that celebrates the joint family in a time where people are scattered all over the place and is centred around the Barir Pujo which is slowly becoming extinct.”
In the film, the Banerjee household starts buzzing with festive cheer as the family members reunite for Durga Puja.
“It’s a happy-funny-sad-sweet drama that hopes to remind us Bengalis of our true family spirit of positivity during such depressing times. This film serves as a quick reminder that Pujo is all about the family (sic)," said the director.
SVF's co-founder and director, Mahendra Soni, said, “The film will revive the old charm of joint families and enthusiasm around the ‘Bonedi’ Bari Durga Puja celebrations. The announcement poster has already grabbed attention and we are extremely glad to see the response.”
Soni is also delighted to make the announcement as, according to him, the audience has certain kinds of expectations from Bhaumik’s films.
