The first season of MX Player’s Marathi web-series Samantar depicted the inexorable link between the lives of Kumar Mahajan (Swwapnil Joshi) and the elderly Sudarshan Chakrapani (Nitish Bharadwaj) where the former's future is the latter's past.
Kumar also gets hold of a diary where Sudarshan has noted down his experiences in the bygone days. However, he is allowed to read only one day's entry at a time.
As per the trailer, Kumar is leading a happy life with his wife Nima (Tejaswini Pandit) and daughter. He believes nothing can go wrong. However, in accordance with a prophecy, a mysterious woman (Sai Tamhankar) enters his life. Kumar’s life then starts crumbling down and he even gets arrested in connection with a crime. But he is not someone who is resigned to his fate.
The trailer clearly indicates that the second season will take place on a much larger scale than the first. This time the narrative seems to have more drama and thrills with the new character inducing a sense of intrigue. The first season was helmed by Satish Rajwade while this one has been directed by Sameer Vidwans.
Joshi appears impressive while Bharadwaj, who is still known for his performance as Krishna in BR Chopra’s classic television show Mahabharat, elicits interest with his grey character.
Samantar (Season 2) will be streamed on MX Player from 1 July.
