The trailer of cinematographer Tanu Balak's directorial debut, Cold Case, starts with an eerie warning. "In this universe, there are more illogical thoughts than logical ones, Medha," warns a soothsayer. These are the two sides of the investigation that form the crux of this thriller led by Prithviraj Sukumaran and Aditi Balan.
Prithviraj plays the straight-arrow investigator, Sathyajith, who is tasked with closing the cold case of a homicide. An unidentified skull abandoned in a garbage bag is the only clue he has. But there is something about this case that evades the rational and logical approach. Aditi's tormented Medha seems to be haunted by something she cannot describe, and perhaps, it is this fear that is driving her to believe in the supernatural.
The trailer is cut well and drives home the mysterious nature of the investigation. Prithviraj is perfect as the logical character who seems to be haunted by something in his own past. The jump cuts, tone, and soundscape of the trailer keep you on the edge of your seat.
Cold Case is set to be released on 30 June on Amazon Prime.
