Makers of June release reprise of 'Baba' song on Father's Day

The makers of the upcoming Marathi movie June (2021) have released a reprise version of the song 'Baba' for Father's Day.

The new version has been crooned by Anandi Joshi. The original version, released just a few days ago, was sung by Abhay Jodhapurkar.

The new video features Nehha Pendse, Resham Shrivardhan, Sanskruti Balgude, Gauri Nalawade, Parna Pethe, Girija Oak Godbole, Amruta Khanvilkar, Priya Bapat, Mrinmayee Godbole and singers Anandi Joshi and Shalmali Kholgade.

Speaking of the new version, singer Kholgade, who has composed the music for June, said, "We often don’t give as much importance to the father as we should. I am proud that the song 'Baba' from June is a solo female track and Anandi has sung it beautifully. Whenever I hear this song, I feel overwhelmed with gratitude. I'm sure the audience will feel the same way. I also think listening to this song will connect the audience more deeply with June."

Pendse, who is one of the producers of the film and plays the female lead, spoke about the movie and her relationship with her father. "Honesty, perseverance, principles, all the values that you need to succeed in life, were imbued in me by my father. He never told me these things but showed me through his actions. I have always seen him lead a prosperous life by upholding moral values and that is why he is my idol. Therefore, the lyrics of the song 'Baba' also apply to my relationship with my father."

Lyricist Nikhil Mahajan, another of the film's producers, said, "'Baba' is a song about a person who has a special place in our lives. We, the team of June and Planet Marathi, dedicate this song to Baba [Dad], the most special person in our lives, and there can be no better day than Father's Day for this.

"I sincerely thank all my friends for taking the time out of their busy schedules to express their love for the special person in their lives with the June team," he added.

June is directed by first-time directors Suhrud Godbole and Vaibhav Khisti and stars Siddharth Menon, Nehha Pendse, Resham Shrivardhan and Kiran Karmarkar. The film is scheduled to be premiered directly on the Planet Marathi OTT platform. The date has not been disclosed yet.
