Got a story idea? Pocketwala's contest gives you the chance to turn it into a web-series

The massive disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has unearthed a new generation of content creators who are not dependent on big money to come up with interesting stories. These are the content creators of a new India, often armed only with a mobile phone and an idea.

Pocketwala, an offline video-sharing app for rural and semi-urban India, now wants to try and get some of these creators on to a stage more worthy of their talent through the first Pocketwala Web Series Idea Contest.

The contest offers the opportunity for six winners with original stories (ideas or scripts) to see them turned into web-series to be streamed on Zinglin, the short-video app from UFO Moviez, India's largest digital movie distribution network.

Contest participants can enter newly conceptualized bare-bones ideas as well as fully fleshed-out scripts.

The six winners (three best story concepts and three best scripts) will see the ideas or scripts transformed into web-series, with their names in the credits. These web-series will be streamed on the Zinglin app.

There is no limit on the number of scripts/ideas that participants can send for evaluation. But each idea or script has to be sent in as a separate entry. And entries can only be submitted in Hindi or English.

To enter the contest, Pocketwala charges a fee of Rs550 for a story concept/idea and Rs880 for a full-fledged script.

The selected ideas and scripts will be evaluated, supported and mentored by the in-house team at Zinglin to create original web-series.
