On the eve of the release of Dhanush's Jagame Thandhiram, director Karthik Subbaraj joined members of the cast at a virtual meeting with fans.
The film, starring Dhanush, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Kalaiyarasan and Sharath, was released on Netflix today.
The filmmaker spoke with fans at a meet hosted by Kiki Vijay and Mirchi Vijay. The hosts kept the excitement level high as they brought fans closer to their favourite stars.
The event, styled Konga's Kootam, or Konga's gang, kicked off with a heartfelt address by the director who thanked the fans for being with him on every step of his journey.
Actress Aishwarya Lekshmi graced the screens and shared interesting anecdotes from her experience filming in the streets of London.
Soon after, the screens were hijacked (in the best possible way) by 'influencer' Niharika NM, who 'auditioned' live for the role of Suruli.
The highlight of the event was an adorable performance choreographed by Master Sherif, who made everyone’s favourite cricketer, India Test star R Ashwin, dance to his steps. Saving the best for the last, a melodious rendition of the hit song ‘Bujji’ was presented by none other than Santhosh Narayanan.
Describing Aishwarya Lekshmi's character in the film, Subbaraj revealed that she was picked for her singing at the audition. To her embarassment, the director said, "I completely forgot about that, but more than the singing, she could pretend to be a singer. That is something we were looking for."
The film features Dhanush as the gangster Suruli who ends up in London and plans a takeover from the mafia there. The film is the first collaboration between the director and Dhanush.
