Dhoop Ki Deewar trailer: An appeal for peace between India and Pakistan

Zee5’s Zindagi original series Dhoop Ki Deewar depicts tensions at the India-Pakistan border where soldiers from both sides meet their fate. However, this Pakistani show is unlike recently released films that feature similar scenes. 

Dhoop Ki Deewar revolves around Vishal (Ahad Raza Mir) and Sara (Sajal Aly), who reside in India and Pakistan, respectively. Both lose their fathers in cross-border firing. Devastated by the deaths of their dads, they make fiery statements in the media against the other country.

But as things cool down, Vishal makes a Facebook call to Sara and they become friends and eventually start to fall in love. But the fact that they hail from 'enemy' countries creates obstacles.

Generally, in works of fiction centred on war, the ‘winners’ are shown as the protagonists and the ‘losers’ become the antagonists. But Dhoop Ki Deewar makes it clear that the main characters in the show, from both countries, are the protagonists while war itself is the antagonist.

Mir and Sajal give mature performances while the tone of the show, which features Samiya Mumtaz, Zaib Rehman, Savera Nadeem and Samina Ahmed, seems sensible.
