The track 'Main Sherni' from Vidya Balan's latest cinematic foray, Sherni, which has been directed by Amit Masurkar, leaves a lasting impact thanks to its moving music and lyrics.
Composed by Utkarsh Dhotekar, the song, which features the vocals of Akasa Singh aka Akasa and rap verses by Raftaar, is a tribute to woman power. In the film, Vidya plays a fearless forest ranger.
The smartly produced music video sees Vidya leading the way while showcasing the achievements of several other women from diverse fields. These include the first Indian female race driver to get into the UK circuit, Mira Erda; the recent viral sensation Eshna Kutty; and the first transgender medical practitioner in Karnataka Dr Trinetra Haldar; among others.
Dhotekar's song is hip and works its way to a crescendo without losing steam. Akasa's voice is perfectly balanced and suits the tempo and pitch of the song. Raftaar steps in with some refreshing rhymes. The lyrics by Raghav are catchy and suit the overall theme.
Directed by Amit Masurkar, Sherni is set to release on Amazon Prime Video on 18 June 2021.
