Bhumi Pednekar has joined the cast of Aanand L Rai's upcoming tale about siblings, Raksha Bandhan, which stars Akshay Kumar.
Announced in 2020, the film was scheduled to be released on Diwali 2021, before the pandemic threw a wrench in the works.
Pednekar has previously collaborated with Akshay Kumar on Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017).
Posting on social media, the actress wrote on Thursday, "A very special film & a very special reunion. Am supremely excited to be collaborating again with two of my favourite creative powerhouses & humans. Am full of gratitude to be a part of this special, heart-touching story (sic)."
Akshay Kumar joined the welcoming committee on the social media. The actor wrote, "When you are happy, it shows...and indeed, we are happy to have Bhumi Pednekar on board!"
The film is being written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon and will revolve around the bond between siblings, one of whom will be played by Akshay Kumar.
The makers had released a poster back in 2020, with the actor holding centre stage.
