Hoichoi’s upcoming web-series Mouchaak, starring Monami Ghosh, appears to be an entertaining dark comedy of errors by Sayantan Ghosal, known for his thriller and treasure hunt films. Mir Afsar Ali’s lively narration introduces the characters and tells the viewer what to expect from the series.
Mou, queen bee of a housing colony, loves to be surrounded by her admirers, while her ‘one and only husband’ (Kanchan Mullick) seems to be a mute spectator of her romantic liaisons. The dialogues, filled with sexual innuendoes, suggest something comical about their bonding and establish Mou as a sensational, liberated character unlike her rather timid husband.
However, Mou’s routine entertainment sessions get disrupted when her attention shifts to a lottery ticket worth Rs1.5 crore held by one of her admirers. In her desire to get her hands on the prize money, the badass woman ends up killing one of her admirers. But that's just the beginning of her troubles as she tries to cover up the crime while protecting her lottery ticket.
While the trailer suggests similarities between Mouchaak and the popular and sensational Hoichoi web-series Dupur Thakurpo, the hilarious confusion seems to be the dominant element here. The trailer generates a fair amount of expectation for Ghosal’s web debut, which is also his first attempt at a dark comedy. However, the distinct possibility of this turning out to be another mindless, sensational Hoichoi entertainer also looms.
Mouchaak will be streamed on Hoichoi from 18 June. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch this web-series.
