Sanya Malhotra has joined Rajkummar Rao for the Hindi remake of the Telugu investigative thriller HIT (2020), which will be helmed by Dr Sailesh Kolanu, who also directed the original.

The actress made the announcement on Instagram.

Malhotra said in a statement, "I have watched HIT and I really liked the concept of the film. When the film was offered to me, I immediately said yes. It is a very interesting and intriguing story that deserves a mass audience. I am looking forward to this one and excited to work with Raj."

This is the first time Rajkummar Rao and Malhotra will be seen on the silver screen together. They have done a few commercials together.

The original Telugu movie, which starred Vishwak Sen and Ruhani Sharma, revolved around a cop who, despite struggling with deteriorating mental health, takes it upon himself to find a missing woman. The film ended on a cliffhanger, promising a sequel.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Dil Raju, Krishan Kumar and Kuldeep Rathore, the yet-untitled Hindi remake is currently in pre-production and will go on the floors soon.

Malhotra was seen recently in Pagglait (2021) on Netflix. Apart from the remake of HIT, she will appear in Meenakshi Sundareshwar, starring Abhimanyu Dassani, and Shah Rukh Khan's home production Love Hostel alongside Bobby Deol and Vikrant Massey.
