Shweta Tripathi joins cast of Rashmi Rocket

Shweta Tripathi will star in the upcoming sports drama Rashmi Rocket.

The producers of the film, RSVP Movies, announced the actress’s involvement on her birthday.

The makers shared an image of Tripathi from the sets as they revealed a bit of information about her character, Maya Bhasin.

“She fights the world for truth and justice, don’t let her smile fool you!” the post read, indicating that the character will be an ally to the protagonist.

Taapsee Pannu plays the titular character, Rashmi, who rises to fame through her talents on the track field. The film, directed by Akarsh Khurana, also stars Priyanshu Painyuli as Rashmi’s husband and Supriya Pathak as Rashmi’s mother.

The film, which was originally announced in August 2019, was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020 while shooting resumed in November 2020. The makers have yet to reveal the film's release date or whether it will have a theatrical release.

Rashmi Rocket has been co-written by Nandha Periyasamy, Aniruddha Guha and Kanika Dhillon. The film has been produced by Ronnie Screwvala, along with Neha Anand and Pranjal Khandhdiya.
