Zahaan Kapoor, Aditya Rawal announced as leads of Hansal Mehta’s next

After last month's announcement of Anubhav Sinha producing his next with Hansal Mehta as director, the filmmaker has revealed the cast of his latest production.

Sinha is introducing Zahaan Kapoor and has cast Aditya Rawal as the co-leads in the untitled commercial thriller.

Zahaan, grandson of actor Shashi Kapoor and filmmaker Ramesh Sippy, will be making his big-screen debut with the film.

Rawal, son of actor Paresh Pawal and actress Swaroop Sampat, made his debut with the Zee5 film Bamfaad (2020) opposite Shalini Pandey last April.

The untitled film is slated to be released in theatres and the makers will announce its title and subject soon.

Sinha, known for his award-winning films Mulk (2018), Article 15 (2020) and Thappad (2020), and Hansal Mehta, who directed the critically acclaimed series Scam 1992 on SonyLIV, are said to have handpicked the actors and groomed them for their roles with months-long gruelling sessions.

Speaking about the new faces in the cast, Sinha said, “Both Zahaan and Aditya bring fresh energy and excitement to their roles. Hansal and I wanted to cast new actors in this human story as we want the audience to feel they are watching characters rather than any star in the film with pre-conceived notions. We have already started shooting for the film and the hard work these two are putting in is commendable.”

Director Mehta added, “With the subject at hand, I was very keen on doing this film with fresh faces. Both Zahaan and Aditya have been selected on the basis of their talent and potential. The characters they play are very intricate and I'm sure the audience will love them too.”

The upcoming film is being produced by Sinha’s Benaras Mediaworks and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series along with Sakshi Bhatt, Sahil Saigal and Mazahir Mandasaurwala of Mahana Films.
