Hoichoi today released the official poster for its upcoming web-series Murder In The Hills directed by Anjan Dutt.

Featuring Arjun Chakraborty, Rajdeep Gupta, Sourav Chakraborty, Anindita Bose, Suprovat Das, Sandipta Sen and Rajat Ganguly, Murder In The Hills is Dutt’s web-series directorial debut.

The series is set in Darjeeling, regarded as the actor-director's second home. However, according to a report in The Telegraph newspaper, the film will not focus on the “touristic side” of the region. Instead, viewers will get a look at 'the grimy, gritty back streets, alleys, lanes, bazaar, localities never seen before — the lived-in spaces'.

Murder In The Hills is a fictional tale about the mysterious death of a Bengali film star of the 1990s in the underbelly of Darjeeling.

“Murder in The Hills is a dark story filled with complex characters who are all contemporary and young,” the filmmaker told the Calcutta-based daily.

Arjun Chakraborty plays a journalist, Bose essays the role of a teacher, while Sen will be seen playing a doctor. “It’s violent, reeking in secrets, lies and scandal," the filmmaker said. "The hills become very murky, a place where blood is shed and the violence of the past catches up with the present.”

Dutt said achieving the scale of a web-series was difficult for him. “In this global scenario it’s very important to try to match our OTT work with [that of] the rest of the world," he said. "Being in a place where I grew up, it became mandatory to shoot in areas where tourists would rarely go; to achieve a visual scale in that crowded underbelly.”

Murder In The Hills will be streamed on Hoichoi from 23 July.
