The makers of Kartik Aaryan's upcoming film Satyanarayan Ki Katha have decided to change the film’s title to avoid ‘hurting people’s sentiments'.

Director Sameer Vidwans issued a statement in this regard on Twitter on Saturday.

In the statement, he said, “A title of the film is something that emerges organically through the creative process. We have taken a decision to change the title of our recently announced film Satyanarayan Ki Katha to avoid hurting sentiments, even if that’s purely unintentional. The producers of the film and the creative team are in complete support of this decision. We will be announcing a new title for our love story in the due course of the journey.”

Satyanarayan Ki Katha, which translates to Satyanarayan’s story, is part of a religious ritual called the Satyanarayan puja and the makers have been receiving angry comments ever since the film's title was revealed last week. Even under the post where they have announced the change of title, there are scores of comments slamming the makers for keeping such a title in the first place.

In a recent statement released by the makers, Kartik Aaryan was quoted as saying, "Satyanarayan Ki Katha is a musical love saga that brings together a powerhouse of people who are National award-winning names. It’s also a first for me with Sameer Vidwans sir who has an astute sense of making sensitive topics highly entertaining.”

The film marks Vidwans’s Hindi cinema debut. His Marathi web-series debut, Samantar (Season 2), was released last week on MX Player.
