Gujarati film Teacher of the Year to be streamed on ShemarooMe on 5 August, see trailer

The Gujarati film Teacher of the Year (2019) will be streamed on ShemarooMe on 5 August.

The feature is the digital platform’s latest Gujarati offering after the web-series Kshadyantra, Vaat Vaat Ma and Unknown to Known and the film Swagatam (2021) starring Malhar Thakar.

Teacher of the Year is set in a school where teachers are reviewed by the students and pit against one another. The film, co-directed by Dr Vikram Panchal and Shaunak Vyas, has been produced by Jayantibhai R Tank and Parth Tank.

The trailer shows how one teacher, played by Vyas, goes against the system by using a practical teaching approach much to the chagrin of the other educationists. The film features Alisha Prajapati, Mehul Buch, Ragi Jani, Jitendra Thakkar, Archan Trivedi, Meera Acharya and Nisarg Trivedi.

Stating that she was delighted about the film's digital premiere, Prajapati said, “This move will spell good news for audiences across the globe who were eagerly awaiting the OTT release. Get ready to experience the pristine relationship of teacher and student in this slice-of-life blockbuster on 5 August on ShemarooMe.”

Vyas said he was excited to see how the OTT audience would respond to the project. "I am sure fans will enjoy watching this film with their family in the comfort of their home and will shower us with the same love and support as they did during the film's theatrical release,” he said.

Veteran actor Mehul Buch, who plays professor Shastri, said, “With the world digital premiere of Teacher of the Year on a prestigious platform like ShemarooMe, I am confident that more viewers across the globe will be able to get a glimpse of this beautiful Gujarati movie, streaming from 5 August. I am positive that the world digital premiere will receive a stupendous response and the innocence of the film will be cherished by all.”

Teacher of the Year was released in theatres on 13 September 2019.
