Actress Shilpa Shetty has filed a plea before the Bombay high court seeking to prevent the publication of incorrect, false or malicious information about her on social media and in news publications in connection with the arrest of her husband, Raj Kundra, in a case of production and sharing of pornographic content.

The legal news website BarandBench.com reported that social media platforms Instagram and Facebook, television news channels NDTV and India TV, and newspaper The New Indian Express were named as respondents in Shetty's petition.

The application was filed after Kundra's bail plea was rejected by a Mumbai court yesterday. The entrepreneur had sought bail after being arrested on 19 July and remanded in police custody till 27 July. On Tuesday, a metropolitan magistrate's court sent Kundra to judicial custody for 14 days.

Kundra and Shetty have been married since 2009. The actress, in her plea, stated that the respondents are smearing her reputation to create a sensation and sought an injunction to restrain them from publishing any false or unsubstantiated information.
