In the anthology Navarasa (2021), Parvathy Thiruvothu, known for her roles in Malayalam and Tamil cinema, will be sharing screen space with actor Siddharth. The two stars will be seen in the segment Inmai, directed by filmmaker Rathindran R Prasad, which is a part of Netflix’s upcoming nine-part anthology.
Featuring big names like Suriya, Vijay Sethupathi, Prakash Raj, Revathy and Arvind Swami, Navarasa will be released worldwide on Netflix on 6 August.
Speaking about her experience working with Siddharth on Inmai, Parvathy said, “Siddharth has the power to express [feelings] just through his eyes. He could be very still and far away from me, but I would still be able to feel what he is exuding through his eyes. That helps me, makes my job much easier, and is one reason why I really enjoyed working with him.
“It was a great jugalbandi [duet],” she continued. “Siddharth and I were on Zoom calls several times before we came on the set. It was amazing to shift the rapport from the virtual world to the physical world. As they say, the rest is history. We just slid into it with zero friction.
"This is a great collaboration that happened very easily. There was no worry or stress. And with this anthology people from the fraternity came together to do something really good for each other.”
Several big names from across the South have come together for this one-of-a-kind project, many offering their services free and contributing the proceeds from the films towards the well-being of film workers in Tamil cinema hit by the pandemic.
Showcasing the nine different emotions of love, laughter, anger, sorrow, courage, fear, disgust, surprise and peace through nine different stories, the anthology has been directed by Arvind Swami, Bejoy Nambiar, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Karthick Naren, Karthik Subbaraj, Priyadarshan, Rathindran Prasad, Sarjun and Vasanth Sai.
Navarasa has been produced by Justickets which is co-founded by Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan.
