Assamese actress Pansy Brahma’s films Dusk, Sijou selected for IFFM 2021


The festival is being held in a hybrid format from 12- 30 August.

Assamese actress Pansy Brahma’s short Dusk and feature film Sijou have been selected for the upcoming Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2021. The event is being held virtually and physically from 12 to 30 August.

Brahma has shared the news on Instagram, saying, “Hello my supportive family a very Good Afternoon to all I am very delighted to share with you all that my two films "DUSK" (Short film) and  "SIJOU" (Feature film) got officially selected at "12th INDIAN FILM FESTIVAL of MELBOURNE 2021" (sic).”

She added, "Many amazing films will be screened during the festival. The festival will begin from 12th of August to 30th August 2021. Visit the website of Indian Film Festival of Melbourne for more details.”

Last year, Brahma won the Best Actress Award at the Big Sound International Film Festival, Canada 2020 for her role in Dusk. Directed by Ujjal Paul, the movie is about the life of a sex worker.

The Bodo language film Sijou is about a boy who lives in the village of Saikhong Guri in India. His life takes a drastic turn when he becomes a victim of the feudal land tenure system, which was in practice in Bhutan till 1958. Many people living near the Indo-Bhutan border were victims of this system until it was abolished.

Directed by Vishal P Chaliha, the film was screened at the International Film Festival of Kerala and will have its International premiere at IFFM.
