SonyLIV has announced its first original Marathi web-series, Shantit Kranti.

Directed by Sarang Sathaye and Paula McGlynn, the owners of the digital platform Bharatiya Digital Party [aka BhaDiPa], the show stars Abhay Mahajan, Lalit Prabhakar, Alok Rajwade and Shikha Talsania.

Shantit Kranti revolves around three friends, Shreyas (Mahajan), Prasanna (Prabhakar) and Dinar (Rajwade), who are dealing with various issues. They decide to go on one last trip to Goa in the hope of finding answers to their questions.

But Shreyas tricks the other two into visiting an ashram named Shantivan for 24 hours to find inner peace. Over there, they meet the programme coordinator Neha Parekh (Talsania) and a few other people who have come for the same purpose, including a foreigner (McGlynn). Things, however, don’t go according to Shreyas’s plan.

Going by the trailer, Shantit Kranti seems to have a fine mixture of freshness and humour. The casting also seems perfect. There have been lots of movies about friends going on a road trip. But this one stands apart because of the ashram twist.

Speaking about the show, Sathaye and McGlynn said in a joint statement, “Shantit Kranti is not just a show, but an endearing life experience. The show is an outcome of a great partnership between SonyLIV, our creative team and our set of talented actors who have made this show possible. The road trip, the stories, the memories created and the experience, all bring back nostalgia, unlimited laughter and lessons for life. The story will definitely resonate with our viewers and we’re hoping that they sit back and enjoy this ride.”

Shantit Kranti will be streamed on SonyLIV from 13 August.
