Director Saptaswa Basu has announced Doctor Bakshi, a spin-off of his last film, Pratidwandi. The popularity of the titular character, essayed by Saswata Chatterjee, prompted the director to come up with a new story that is still in the development stage.
While Chatterjee has been confirmed as the protagonist, Basu is currently in talks with Bonny Sengupta and a few other actors to play the supporting roles.
Pratidwandi, which is being streamed on Hoichoi, features Rudranil Ghosh, Sayaani Ghosh and Sourav Das.
According to Basu, Pratidwandi received praise after it went live on Hoichoi this month. "The character played by Saswata Chatterjee has got acclaim and the audience loved the enigmatic mastermind doc who holds the key to the twist in the tale,” he said.
The director reportedly had received requests for more stories centred on Doctor Bakshi.
However, as Chatterjee is busy with outdoor shoots, the shooting dates of Doctor Bakshi have not been finalized yet.
Basu’s finished film Jatugriha, starring Parambrata Chatterjee, Paayel Sarkar, Piyali Chatterjee and Sengupta, is yet to be released.
