Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran’s upcoming Malayalam thriller Kuruthi will be released directly on Amazon Prime Video on 11 August.

The release date was announced by the OTT platform on Wednesday via a poster.

The poster sees a fierce Prithviraj Sukumaran, an intense Roshan Mathew and the rest of the talented ensemble standing against a police van in the midst of a lush forest.

This will be the actor's second direct-to-OTT release after Cold Case, which was premiered on Amazon Prime last month.

Directed by Manu Warrier, the film has been bankrolled by Prithviraj’s wife Supriya Menon under the Prithviraj Productions banner.

In April, the makers announced that Kuruthi would arrive in cinemas on 13 May. However, these plans were scrapped due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The film’s plot is likely to explore socio-political themes.

Manu has made two short films and also assisted directors such as Anurag Kashyap and Owais Hussain. In 2015, he made his directorial debut with Coffee Bloom

Prithviraj and Roshan have worked together in Anjali Menon’s Koode (2018).

Meanwhile, Prithviraj is shooting for his upcoming second directorial project, Bro Daddy, which features Meena, Lalu Alex, Murali Gopy, Kaniha and Soubin Shahir.
