The story of the late Param Vir Chakra awardee, Vikram Batra, is an inspiring one. Sidharth Malhotra captures the essence of a young ambitious officer who displayed courage in the face of adversity during the Kargil War. The film, directed by Vishnuvardhan, is set to be released on Amazon Prime on 12 August.
The trailer begins with a voiceover by Malhotra's young lieutenant highlighting his ideals. He arrives in Kashmir as a young lieutenant. His senior warns him that there is more to the scenic area that meets the eye.
Montages of firefights are displayed and hard-hitting dialogues are uttered. Also seen is Kiara Advani as the young Batra's fiance, but the trailer focuses mostly on the conflict.
The thumping background score, intense action sequences and evocation of memories and emotions tied to the Kargil war add to the experience. The inclusion of footage of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will score brownie points as well.
Malhotra looks the part as the passionate young martyr. The role carries a lot of weight as Batra has come to symbolize many noble ideals in the face of war. His signing off with the call sign ''Ye Dil Maange More'' at the end of the clip sends chills.
Shershaah has been produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.
