Suriya to play lawyer in TJ Gnanavel’s Jai Bhim, see posters

Suriya's onscreen avatar in his 39th film, TJ Gnanavel’s Jai Bhim (2022), was revealed on Friday, which happened to be the actor's 46th birthday. The makers of the artiste's upcoming action film Etharkkum Thunindhavan also released posters of their project on that day.

Suriya tweeted the first look of Jai Bhim, sharing a poster that sees him in a lawyer’s gown, foregrounded by a group of tribals.

The title of the film is a reference to the slogan uttered by followers of Dr BR Ambedkar, and the film’s look also suggests that the actor will be involved in the struggle for caste equality. Ambedkar, who helped draft the constitution of India, was also a lawyer.

A second poster shows the actor seated in a dark office, drafting something on a typewriter, with a book titled Law of Writs in front of him.

Writer-director TJ Gnanavel, a former journalist, has previously helmed Kootathil Oruthan (2017). Jai Bhim, which will be produced by Suriya's banner 2D Entertainment, also stars Rajisha Vijayan and Prakash Raj.

The Soorarai Pottru (2020) actor will next be seen in the Netflix anthology Navarasa in the segment titled Guitar Kambi Mele Nindru directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon.
