Filmmaker Karan Johar will host an additional edition of Bigg Boss, which has been envisioned specifically for the digital space, from 8 August.

The show, which was announced this week by Bigg Boss host Salman Khan, will have a six-week run.

Johar, who has previously hosted his own chat show Koffee With Karan, will anchor the reality show made especially for the over-the-top platform. Viewers can watch the contestants in the Bigg Boss house live at all hours, and get a chance to see exclusive footage, along with an interactive edition. After the OTT show’s six-week run, the 15th season of Bigg Boss will be launched on the television channel Colors by Khan.

Speaking about his new hosting duties, Johar said, “My mom [Hiroo Johar] and I are huge Bigg Boss fans and wouldn’t miss it for a day. As a viewer, it keeps me hugely entertained with dollops of drama. For decades now, I have always enjoyed hosting shows and now with Bigg Boss OTT... it will surely be Over the Top. It’s my mother’s dream come true.”

“Bigg Boss OTT will undeniably have a lot more sensational and dramatic,” he added. “I hope I can live up to the audience’s and my friends’ expectations, make Weekend Ka Vaar with the contestants an enjoyable affair in my own style and up the ante on the entertainment quotient. Wait for it!”

The contestants of the inaugural digital edition are yet to be announced.
