Nayanthara's Tamil thriller Netrikann to be premiered on Disney+ Hotstar

In the film, which features Ajmal Ameer as the antagonist, the actress plays a woman who loses her eyesight after a road accident.

Nayanthara’s upcoming Tamil thriller Netrikann, in which she plays a woman who loses her eyesight after a road accident, will be premiered on Disney+ Hotstar. The film was supposed to arrive in theatres last year but the makers' plans were foiled by the coronavirus pandemic.

Tipped to be a woman-centric thriller, the film is believed to be an official remake of the Korean thriller Blind, which is centred on a visually impaired woman who testifies in a hit-and-run case and is then forced to confront the killer on her own.

The film features Ajmal Ameer as the antagonist.

Disney+ Hotstar is yet to announce the premiere date.

The film marks the debut of Nayanthara’s boyfriend Vignesh Shivn as a producer. He has bankrolled the project under the Rowdy Pictures banner. After the release of the poster last year, Vignesh was quite elated with the overwhelming response from all quarters.

This will be Nayanthara’s second direct-to-OTT release in a row. Her last film Mookuthi Amman (2020), a social satire, was also released directly on Disney+ Hotstar.

The actress has signed a two-film deal with Dream Warrior Pictures. She commences shooting for the first project later this month.

She also has the Telugu remake of the Malayalam film Lucifer (2019), which will star Chiranjeevi, in the pipeline.
