The crime branch of the Mumbai police will produce businessman Raj Kundra in court today to seek his police custody.

Kundra was arrested late last night on charges of creating and sharing pornographic content through some apps.

Kundra is the husband of actress Shilpa Shetty. The couple was married in 2009.

The property cell of the crime branch had registered a case in February against nine individuals for making pornographic films and sharing them through some mobile apps.

Late last night, the police summoned Kundra for questioning in connection with the case. Reports suggest that some of the accused are owners of these apps, where the content was made available for a subscription fee. The Mumbai police summoned Kundra after his name came up in questioning.

The ANI news agency quoted police commissioner Hemant Nagrale as saying, "We have arrested Raj Kundra in this case on 19/07/21 as he appears to be a key conspirator. We have sufficient pieces of evidence regarding this. The investigation is in progress."

Additionally, Kundra had been brought up for questioning in a case pertaining to obscenity in web-series. Kundra had applied for anticipatory bail in the case filed by the cyber crime department.

Kundra is part-owner of the Indian Premier League cricket team, Rajasthan Royals. In 2013, Kundra was questioned by the Delhi police in a spot-fixing and betting controversy in the tournament.
