Ayushmann Khurrana has donned a doctor’s white coat to get into the role for his next film, Doctor G, in which he appears to be playing a gynaecologist.

The actor, who is currently in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, to shoot for the film, shared his first look from the comedy with the caption: Doctor G taiyyar ho kar nikle hain. Ab hogi shooting! [Doctor G is ready to leave. Now the shooting will begin!]

In the campus comedy directed by Anubhuti Kashyap, Khurrana plays Uday Gupta. He is joined by Rakul Preet Singh and Shefali Shah, who also play doctors in the feature.

As Khurrana is the only male member of the cast announced so far, it looks like the character will be mingling with female gynaecologists in the film.

Khurrana told The Times Of India newspaper, “The subject of Doctor G is very close to me. Considering the lockdown restrictions, we all have been waiting to start the film and we are glad that the day has finally arrived. It’s an honour to portray a doctor on the screen for the first time. I am excited to start shooting the film also because it’s going to allow me to relive my memories of being a student and living the hostel life. I’m looking forward to collaborating with my director Anubhuti.”

Doctor G, produced by Junglee Pictures, is the third film Khurrana has shot in the pandemic after Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui and Anek.

Rakul Preet Singh, who plays Dr Fatima, and Khurrana are working together for the first time in this comedy project.

The script for Doctor G has been co-written by Sumit Saxena, Vishal Wagh Saurabh Bharat and director Kashyap.
