After triggering nostalgia in millennials by facilitating the recreation of 'Chura Ke Dil Mera', one of the most popular dance numbers of the 1990s, the makers of Hungama 2 have released another song, which transports viewers and listeners to the 1990s.
This time though instead of reworking an old tune, Anu Malik has composed an original song. This peppy track features the lead pair Pranitha Subhash and Meezaan Zaaferi, who were choreographed by Pony Verma.
With its shots of dancing on mountaintops, beaches and neatly built sets, 'Chinta Na Kar' has all the visual elements of romantic dance tracks from the 1990s. Although Meezaan has proven that he is no slouch when it comes to shaking a leg, here he doesn't look all that comfortable. Even in his expressions, one gets a feeling that he is trying too hard. Pranitha, on the other hand, looks at ease.
Nakash Aziz and Neeti Mohan's voices bring a different energy and style to the composition. Neeti sounds a little different here — possibly due to voice modulation or some other technical wizardry — but it suits the song and that's what matters in the end.
Sameer Anjaan's lyrics are quite simple and easy to remember and blend well with Malik's melodious tune.
Hungama 2, which also stars Paresh Rawal, Shilpa Shetty and Ashutosh Rana, will be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar on 23 July.
