Composed by the Mozart of Madras, the song features vocals by Shreya Ghoshal and lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Shriram Iyengar

It has been a while since AR Rahman went all out for a desi dance number, but he has not lost his touch. The composer delivers an enjoyable song in 'Param Sundari' with Shreya Ghoshal providing the vocals. The tune from the Kriti Sanon-starrer Mimi, which is set to be released on Jio Cinema and Netflix on 30 July.

The song is a grand dance number that seeks to create hype around Sanon's character, Mimi. With Sai Tamhankar on the sidelines as the singer, the visuals take place at a celebration. The choreography is well done, but apart from the ''hook-step'' it looks pretty regular. Sanon is quite at ease.

The composition begins in earnest and rises in tempo. Rahman has layered the dhol-heavy composition with the guitar holding the melody together in the background. The rhythm and harmony operate in tandem with Amitabh Bhattacharya's zany lyrics that have a musicality of their own. Another unique addition is the folk stylings of vocalist Kutle Khan who buttresses Ghoshal's more melodious lead vocals. The 'Chikni Chameli' singer also does not disappoint, delivering the lyrics with joy and playfulness.

Mimi has been directed by Laxman Utekar.
