Director Prakash Janardan Pawar’s Marathi movie Baloch stars Pravin Tarde and marks the acting debut of Bhaurao Karhade, who is known for helming acclaimed films such as Khwada (2015) and Baban (2018).
The first poster of Baloch sees Tarde as a stoic warrior lost in thought. The saffron Maratha flag is also seen faintly fluttering in the background on a desert-like spot.
Baloch examines the aftermath of the disastrous third battle of Panipat, which was depicted in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Hindi movie Panipat (2019).
The conflict saw the Marathas take on the forces of the founder of the Durrani Empire, Abdul Shah Abdali of Afghanistan, in 1761. After the Marathas were defeated, the survivors were captured by Abdali, taken to Balochistan and enslaved.
Tarde was last seen in the Salman Khan-starrer Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai (2021), which released earlier this year. He played the gangster Dagdu, who later gets reformed and helps Khan’s eliminate the drugs menace.
Although it’s not clear when the film will be released, the makers have assured viewers that it will be out soon.
The film was announced in January 2020.
