Ram Madhvani, Sony Pictures Films India join hands for underwater thriller Dive


The film will be helmed by acclaimed ad filmmaker Nitin Parmar and written by Renuka Kunzru.

Filmmaker Ram Madhvani on Thursday announced that he will be collaborating with Sony Pictures Films India to produce an underwater survival thriller Dive.

According to the press release issued by Sony Pictures Films India, the film will be directed by newcomer Nitin Parmar, an acclaimed ad filmmaker, and written by Renuka Kunzru. Kunzru has previously written the screenplays of Heyy Babyy (2007), Break Ke Baad (2010) and Chashme Baddoor (2013).

In a statement to the news agency Press Trust of India, Ram and Amita Madhvani, who are backing the movie under their banner Ram Madhvani Films (RMF), said, "We are very happy and excited about working with Sony Pictures Films India for Dive which will be helmed by Nitin Parmar from RMF and writer Renuka Kunzru. Nitin and Renuka are confident about this unique story and are aiming to put a new spin on the genre of survival drama."

The first-time filmmaker said in a statement, "Dive promises to take viewers to the extreme end of survival, and it will be an experience, tailor-made for the theatres with a strong emotional arc."

Vivek Krishnani, managing director, Sony Pictures Films India, said Dive, which is in the development stage, is "one of its kind high stakes survival drama that's waiting to happen in India (sic)".

 Madhvani is also working on the second season of the Kartik Aaryan-led web-series Dhamaka.
