Actress Taapsee Pannu has started her own production house, Outsiders Films, in collaboration with her friend Pranjal Khandhdiya who has been executive producer on a number of Hindi films and is one of the producers of Pannu’s upcoming film Rashmi Rocket.

Pannu said in a statement that she was thrilled to embark upon a new journey and diversify her love for cinema with Outsiders Films.

"Having my business ventures, management comes naturally to me," the actress said. "Hence, I always thought of setting up my own production house. The audience and the industry have given me a lot of support and love over the 11 years of my career."

Speaking about her banner's goals, she said, “With Outsiders Films, I aim to give back to the industry and empower talent who are looking for a breakthrough and come with no background, like me. Pranjal and I together look forward to opening doors for new and fresh talent, both in front of and behind the camera.”

Pannu also announced the first film her banner will be producing on Twitter. It's a thriller titled Blurr. To be directed by Ajay Bahl, Outsiders Films will produce the film in association with Zee Studios.

The actress said, “Pranjal and I both come from humble backgrounds. That’s when the name Outsiders Films clicked with us. We aim to produce meaningful, entertaining and quality content.”

Talking about this association with Pannu, Khandhdiya said, “Forging a solid partnership needs two people to have a lot of similarities and at the same time different opinions. This is where our partnership becomes so interesting. Taapsee and I both have similar goals but with varied opinions and approaches. Outsiders Films gives us the opportunity to seek our creative goals while complementing each other at work.”

Some of the films on which Khandhdiya has worked as executive producer are Piku (2015), Azhar (2016), Mubarakan (2017), Poster Boys (2017) and Soorma (2018).
